HERSEY MOUNTAIN HISTORY PROJECT – HELP REQUESTED

 

The 3,100 acre Hersey Mountain Forest in northern Sanbornton and southern New Hampton is a conservation property owned by the New England Forestry Foundation and open to the public.  Parts of this property were once farms, fields and pastures, and have been used more recently for forest products.  Dan Heyduk, a steward for the Hersey Forest, is compiling a history of the property.  He is interested in hearing from anyone who has, or knows of, any records for the land north of Knox Mountain Road, Brook Road and Hale Road in Sanbornton.  In New Hampton, he would like to hear from anyone who knows about, or has records of, the history of the land south of Gordon Hill Road and Old Bristol Road and east of Blake Hill Road.  Dan has covered the published history of the area, and now needs to fill in many missing pieces.  Information he is seeking includes:
